The conference workshop presentation considers features of an integrity model of law enforcement mechanism and asks in what ways and to what extent this model functions in the national integrity system. The presentation compares other mechanisms and discusses the importance of oversight mechanism in law enforcement agencies. The presentation identifies the key challenges that model might face for an effective integrity system by presenting a case study on Bangladesh Police.

Taptun Nasreen
Assistant Inspector General of Police, Bangladesh Police
Ms. Taptun NASREEN is currently working as Assistant Inspector General of Police at the Police Headquarters, Bangladesh Police since August 2018. Prior to resuming her police career in Bangladesh, she worked as Police Policy expert (P4) in the Police Division of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, United Nations Headquarters, New York. A committed senior level officer of Bangladesh, Ms. NASREEN has more than 21 years of significant national and international experience in policy, planning, training and core policing and has demonstrated professional competency and capability in effective community management, operations and administrative work. She served with the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Special Branch, Police Staff College, Dhaka District Police, Chief of Rajbari District Police besides Headquarters staff jobs. She also worked as UN Police expert during Presidential Election in Liberia in 2005-06. Ms. NASREEN is currently doing her PhD on 'Police Accountability Mechanism' in a reputed university. She holds Masters on Public Policy and Management from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, another Masters of Social Science in 'Government and Politics' with securing 1st class 1st position from Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka and Post-Graduation in policing from Australian Institute of Police Management, Sydney, Australia. Ms. NASREEN has knowledge and experience in analytical work and has achieved comprehension and proficiency in modern policing and understanding of international issues in theory and practice through her extensive study, research work, publications (National and International) and training courses in home and abroad. Her research was published from New York and Geneva. Canadian Parliament preserved one of her papers translating into French. Ms. NASREEN achieved the United Nations Peacekeeping Medals (both HQ and field mission- for nine times), Bangladesh Police Women Award 2019, the Inspector General of Police's Exemplary Good Service Badge (thrice), Australian Alumni Excellence Award 2012 for Community Service and many more commendations for her outstanding contribution in Bangladesh and international policing. United Nations made a video clip on her in 2017 for outreach programme inviting women to join in peacekeeping. (available in youtube) Ms. NASREEN visited USA, Australia, Liberia, Cote de Ivoire, Ghana, Panama, Pakistan representing Bangladesh Police. She has developed an excellent professionalism and exposure through her brilliant academic and colorful career. Personally she's married with a police officer and proud mother of two teenagers.
