International Accreditation of Police Education-Honduras National Police Success

This conference workshop presentation discusses how the U.S. Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) and the Honduras National Police (HNP) worked together to make police education the foundation of a reformed national police force. The INL presenter focuses on the importance of police education as a policy objective following the purging of the Honduras National Police force. The HNP presenter describes the commitment made by the Government of Honduras to strengthen the quality of police education in order to create a well-trained and professional police force. The HNP presenter also discusses the importance of the International Police Education Network (RINEP) to maintaining quality police education over time.

Lourdes Guillen

Honduras Program Manager, Department of State - Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement

Lourdes Guillen has a bachelor degree in Business Administration from the National Autonomous University of Honduras UNAH), and a Master's Certificate in Project Management from the George Washington University School of Business. Mrs. Guillen has worked for the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Section (INL) at the American Embassy in Tegucigalpa Honduras since 2004. Mrs. Guillen serves as the program manager for the Police Education Program, Strategic Communications for the Honduras National Police, Disciplinary Affairs, and oversight of the Colombian Action Plan.

Ponente en el V Congreso Internacional Las Drogas como problema de Salud PÃblica: tráfico, violencia e inseguridad' del Instituto de Criminología de Panamá, brindando la Conferencia Perfil Profesional de Competencias de egreso y Roles funcionales de los agentes antidrogas de la Policía Nacional de Honduras, a la luz de las nuevas formas de operar de las estructuras criminales.
