Devise a Community Engagement Strategy That Works: Principles, Practices, Performances, and Pitfalls

This conference workshop presentation introduces viewers to the concept of 'culture, rather than race' as a major determinant of 'community', and shows how similarities between cultures can work to foster and enhance engagement strategies. Viewers will also learn to identify the single most important stakeholder in their community engagement strategy. The presentation also explains the 'paradoxical effect' of various community engagement strategies and why they lose effectiveness over time or are not at all accepted or embraced by the community. Viewers receive specific useful perspectives designed to facilitate agency self-reflection and formulation of strategies for their own individual agency.
