Data on the Effectiveness of Mandatory Wellness Visits--86% Would Recommend to Other Officers
Presentation Description: It is of vital importance for professionals and agencies to gather, analyze, and report on data that speaks to the effectiveness of new and existing wellness programs. This presentation will share deidentified data on the effectiveness of mandatory wellness visits delivered to a 42-member suburban police department comprised of sworn officers, dispatch, and administrative and command staff. Outcome data will be reviewed including components rated as more and less helpful, ideas on how to implement and improve wellness visits, and barriers to accessing mental health services in the past. Attendees will have a better understanding of the effectiveness of mandatory wellness visits and the level of officer buy-in after participation.
- Describe and plan to use the data presented including what aspects of mandatory wellness visits were most helpful to officers.
- Gain confidence in implementation of mandatory wellness visits by learning steps taken to collaborate with the department at the level of preparation, implementation, data analysis, and budget planning and negotiation.
- View and discuss a mandatory wellness visit consent form, handout on wellness strategies, and list of referrals including vetted clinicians, local peer support teams, and EAP information.
